My dear Sir Henry,
Your private letter addressed to me at Shanghai has been forwarded by Dr. Vu and has just reached my hands. In reply, I can only express again my grateful thanks to you for the very kind manner in which you have spoken of my past services and also for the courteous consideration and kind treat- -ment which I have invariably received from you throughout our long association both in and out of Council..
As far as my fading health permits, I shall ever be ready at any time to co-operate with Your Excellency in any work or measure for the good of the Colony in the future.
Yours sincerely,
(Sd.) Kai Ho Kai.
